For clarity, the “New Action” button I’m referring to is the one which “Makes a new action in the current location”, not the Quick Entry (e.g. add new inbox item from anywhere) button.
Current behavior of the New Action button:
On Mac and iOS, when inside a Project, the New Action button creates a new Action in the current Project then keyboard focuses on the action for input.
On Mac, when inside a Perspective, the New Action button does nothing.
On iOS, when inside a Perspective, the New Action button adds a new Action in the Inbox.
My Proposal:
Leave functionality as-is when inside Projects.
Add a new field group “New Action Button Settings” inside Perspective settings.
Within this field group, the primary feature is the ability to set behavior of the New Action button.
The settings allow for choosing:
- default Project assigned to new Actions added from inside the Perspective
- default Tags assigned to new Actions added from inside the Perspective
Using the example settings above, now I’m able to quickly add a new action into the current Perspective without setting any Action meta in real-time!
