I’ve developed a custom GPT specifically tailored to my family’s eating habits and meal preferences. While I won’t delve into the specifics here, I’m happy to share more details one-on-one if you’re interested.
Here’s a breakdown of how I utilize this system for creative and consistent meal planning:
Step 1: Weekly Meal Suggestions
Each Sunday, near the end of my weekly review, I ask the GPT for three or four meal suggestions. The GPT follows these steps:
- Review Recent Meals: It looks at recent meals and outputs three new-ish ones.
- Ask for Adjustments: It asks if I want to change any of the suggestions.
- Consolidate Ingredients: If I accept the suggestions, it provides a consolidated list of ingredients and quantities needed for all the meals in markdown format, which I copy.
Step 2: Import Ingredients to OmniFocus
Shortcut Integration: The GPT provides a link to a “Run Shortcut” action, which takes my clipboard as input. Running this Shortcut loops through the markdown list of ingredients and imports them as new actions, each prefaced with “Buy more,” into OmniFocus. This naming convention integrates seamlessly with my existing automation system.
Step 3: Schedule Meals in Fantastical
Create Calendar Entries: The GPT provides me with three Fantastical links. These are URL-encoded inputs of the meal name and description, along with sides and basic preparation details, allowing me to easily schedule meals in my calendar.
This workflow leverages automation and AI to streamline meal planning, making it a more efficient and organized process.
